On behalf of the Barb Smith Suicide Resource & Response Network, thank you for your commitment to our growing organization and your willingness to financially support suicide prevention and increase help-seeking behavior throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region.
Your financial contribution of $100,000 ($50,000 per year) will allow us to continue to be here to help those persons struggling with their mental health and care for those bereaved by suicide. Your donation will help to offset costs of the many programs we offer. To name a few:
- Our support group has been meeting bi-monthly for over 30 years to offer a safe place to bring survivors of similar loss together. It is our intent to support each other on this journey that they did not or could not prepare for.
- Our outreach program is meant to reach out to the community and families (free of charge) after a completed suicide to help in the early hours or days following the loss of a loved one. We go to the newly bereaved and help early on in their grief journey to bring hope and support.
- The Network hosts many special events and trainings throughout the year to help educate the community or support those bereaved by suicide.
- Walk for Hope, our annual 5k walk/run honors those lost to suicide and brings awareness to suicide and the importance of mental wellness. This year’s event was held at Saginaw Valley State University on August 8th and brought together over 1,200 people.
Without your financial contribution, we would not be able to bring the most effective model of suicide prevention training to residents in Midland and throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. This model creates a safety net around individuals with thoughts of suicide through layers of training all around the community.
On behalf of the Barb Smith Suicide Resource and Response Network, please extend our humble gratitude for the tremendous generosity of the Charles J. Strosacker Foundation! We will continue to do our work in honor of all those lost to suicide as well as coordinate and deliver trainings to educate people on how to prevent suicides. Thank you for helping us help the hurting.
